Duskytail Grouper Bleeker's Grouper Epinephelus bleekeri Serranidae [Sea bases: Groupers & Fairy basslets] 23.4 cm [max to 76 cm] 6.2 cm Marine Up to 104 m Coastal reefs, shallow banks, rocky bottom. Feed on shrimps. Most groupers taste alike...seldom available in the local market. Yes. This is NOT the 'orange-spotted grouper[E. coioides]'. Look out for the tail & fins, it's partially dusky below & orange-spotted above, hence the name 'duskytail grouper' Body is usually brownish, reddish-brown or tinge of purple. This particular fish was caught off the reclaimed land east of S'pore, Changi, during my offshore fishing trip on 4/8/02. |
