Golden Trevally Gerong-gerong[malay] Gnathanodon speciosus Carangidae [Jacks & Pompanos] 24.6 cm(top fish) [max to 120 cm] 8.3 cm 230 gms [15 kg] Marine Up to 10 m Deep lagoons, seaward reefs. Feeds on fishes, crustaceans, invertibrates. Swim in schools. Likes to swim close to sharks, big fishes, divers. High price. Seldom available. Tastes similar to other trevallies. Juveniles usually in the aquarium trade. Yes, this juvenile fish was caught in Sg.. Bright yellow with a few alternating thick & thin black bars/stripes vertically in juveniles & young adults. Adults tend to have very faint stripes or hardly any & body turns to silvery gray. Some species, as shown above, loses it's stripes even though it's still a young adult.
