Giant Snakehead or Indonesian Snakehead Toman[malay], San ye[canto] Channa micropeltes Channidae [Snakeheads] [max to 130 cm SL] 1.2 kg [max to 20 kg] Freshwater Up to 100 m Commercial fisheries; Commercial aquaculture; Gamefish; Commercial aquarium. Usually cook with beehoon in soup or stirfry, locally. Yes, it was introduced. Native from Malaysia, Indochina etc. This fish[2nd pic] was caught in Singapore by 'Caeden Sg'. Large streams, canals with standing or slow flowing water. [It's mainly found in reservoirs & ponds locally]. Aggressive, preys on almost anything.. A broad dark stripe horizonally in adults.
