Indian Snapper

Lutjanus madras
Lutjanidae [Snappers]
Max to 30 cm

Marine
5 to 90 m
Coral & rocky reefs.

Yes, this particular fish was caught offshore Singapore Changi.
Scale rows on back rising obliquely above lateral line. Upper back brownish with many dark lines, above the lateral line, diagonally slanting backwards. Lower half whitish with a series of fine horizonal yellow lines. Easily misidentified with "Bigeye Snapper[Lutjanus lutjanus]" Both look similar with the latter having a bigger eye; Dorsal profile of head more gently sloped.
