Sometimes, it's also known as 'Greasy grouper' locally, hence the confusion with the actual greasy grouper.

Yes, this particular fish was caught off the reclaimed land east of S'pore, Changi, during
my 4th offshore fishing trip on 12/2/03.
Brownish in colour, with small blackish brown & white spots on the body, usually with dark brownish-black bars visible on body. Fins with scattered black spots. Often mixed up with 'Greasy Grouper[E. tauvina]' but with larger round spots[sometimes orange-red spots] & w/o white spots.
